i just ran out to fill up a pitcher and look in on the birds and was considering tying to get some pics today because the weather is beautiful.......BUT.....to my dismay, a chukar was bullying a little and on my way to get him out of harms way, I found melanie holding down my favorite little and trying to kill him!!! I scooped them both up and returned them to the shed brooder cage with food and water. Once i calm down a bit (and the urge to wring some necks goes away) I will go back out and try again to get pics! Im scared to use the grow-out cage in the aviary because itās elevated and wire bottomOff someone.![]()

i cooled off and looked again....it wasnāt my favorite afterall....it was the rosetta tux that is a little āoffā anyway as many of this batch of babies are....we think itās related to the overcrowding and wacky temps for too long. i put my silver by the waterer today and it climbed in to drink! TWICE! i dried it off and it was sunny today but still! I put them all in the box again for the night but another had a small head wound....not sure if by quail, chukar, or pheasant. iām definitely not incubating anymore large batches until the temps are warmer or my room is built.Off someone.
