➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Not trying to argue or anything but I am genuinely curious how they can give them diseases if they don’t have contact with them?? I’m talking strictly like penned/cooped poultry, no contact with wild birds or stuff they touched. Not necessarily with the wild birds themselves.

Aw that’s sad. :(

Very true. I don’t let Luna out anymore in the spring cause I don’t want her eating baby animals. :(

I don’t think she even hunts anymore and she’s never brought any home but I’m not chancing it.

Though I also just don’t let her out in general anymore, not just spring, but still.
Wild birds can transmit diseases through their feces. Also if they may have a respiratory disease they can spread that to penned birds.
I had, key word had a mocking bird that would nest on top of one of my pens. I have had the birds in that pen get gape worms from that stupid mocking bird.

Here's some pics of the chick and when it fledged. There were 2 chicks but only one made it.
I thought that it was pretty cool until the pheasants got gapes, then not so much.:(

Made it to the nearest tree.

We have those woodpeckers here. Lots of woodpeckers, they're all protected here, lots of National Forest nextdoor & nearby. Lots of bluejays, woodpeckers, doves, crows, bobwhites, hawks, kites, buzzards, mockingbirds, hummingbirds, occasional cardinals & meadowlarks, and rarely scissortails. Even bald eagles within 10 miles of the house.
