I am ready to begin my vent sexing experiment. I bought a 3pack of 50 gallon tubs so I have two large brooders now. I'm going to put what I believe are girls in one and boys in the other.

This is the new brooder. It's even bigger than the old one.

I ordered White Jumbo quail eggs from myshire last week, I still hadn't heard anything so I emailed her. She said Jumbo White are super popular right now and they are 2 weeks behind.

QB#13 started with 30 eggs from Set1. MyShire Jumbo home laid eggs.

How old are the victims?

They are 10 days old today. If I'm right, I have 20 girls and 29 boys.

Nope, I didn't post yet. I set 30 eggs, had 10 hatch successfully on Sat-Sun. Jumbo pen: 0/6 fertile. Red pen: 6/11 fertile 2/6 hatched. Silver pen: 11/13 fertile 8/11 hatched. Any other stats you need?

The clear one actually has a red lid. I didn't colour coordinate on purpose. The one that had the lower number was going to get the smaller brooder.

My husband built me a quail coop, I tell him how I want it and he makes it happen.

I'm thinking I'll let mine live in the bottom of the pigeon loft/aviary in the warm months - I think they'd like it.

Now if the snow would just GO AWAY so I can build the aviary onto the loft.
