➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

They may never calm down. Mine haven't. I tried to handle them a fair amount as chicks, but they never really tamed down. Have a net handy when you have to move them around later. They fly. I almost always end up chasing one around the house when I clean their enclosure.
I raised a single button quail once, after its broodermate passed—though not cuddly, he's quite tame. He'll sit on my lap without objection and willingly approaches me (though usually with the intent of biting my hand.)

If you have the time to handle them a lot, they can get quite tame. I only handled them once or twice a day, though, and that wasn't enough. They're definitely not as tame as coturnix.

i have had a total of 8 fakers hatch and move to the brooder.....I just went back and found this post after candling to see movement and internal pip in 2/3 remaining eggs so I’m giving them more time...... :fl :pop
1 more “yeller” hatched some time today......

I’m kind of hoping my husband might make a small aviary out of an old armoire for me. Then I could get a couple finches too. :oops:
We’ll see.
Crap...I never got a second to run by the pet store.
I'll try again tomorrow.

@Kiki

120 eggs set
108 fertile (or couldn't tell and put them in lockdown, anyway.)
88 hatched (lost 1 because I put a basket on it by accident.)
All eggs from my own flock of birds that are hatched from eggs from MyShire Farm.

I got that new ion disk humidifier and it is working amazing. I need to get a couple more for the new incubator and a backup.
