➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Ok hatch is done, all the snowie eggs hatched, 8/8 and 29/32 celadons. One was pipped, beak out and shrink wrapped, and 2 were late quitters not fully developed, all dead in shell. Overall, a great success! This is my first HG group of snowies. They are not celadon carriers, but in about a week and a half I have some snowie celadon carriers hatching. The benefit of the double silver roo over non silvers, I got all silver chicks, I have 2 that look like whites, (maybe Baldi laid and egg or two and I didn’t notice they were hers) no bulging eyes and all hatched fine on their own. I’m hoping by spring I can have a pen of double silvers producing meat for me, not to be a meat elitist, but the last double silver was much less gamey than my usual birds. This is an interesting side project I never expected, but I hope I can keep them alive long enough to be large enough to eat.

One of the white ones climbed in the water bowl, on top of the rocks, and rolled on the rocks. I’ve never had one drown, or even come close, but this guy was lucky I saw it happen and popped him right into the bator, he was soaked, looked like a new born. He soaked almost all the water out of the lid I use for a bowl. He really tried hard to die I tell ya.

Here’s some cuteness:

The chicks and one of their new moms.

I didnt know that would be okay to do. I wanted to but was afraid the adults would hurt the chicks. I’ll have to try this next time.
These adults are very docile, and half of them are blind. I had a solo chick that I put in with them when he was 3 weeks, they were fine with him, but you can see her face is bald, because he was pecking at their red eyes. So I took him out, and I am low on space with the new hatch so when I needed to clean their bin, I put them in for a few, and the three hens immediately began to brood them. They are 1 week old, and have been in there for 2 days with no heat, and the hens keep them warm and lead them around. If you do try it, be sure they aren’t chicks you would be heartbroken to lose, but it’s heartwarming to watch.

These were hatched about a week ago, 14 hatched out of 40. They were given to me and were old. They are Coturnix.

Some yellows since they seem popular:

everyone has been out of the bator for a day, the brooder is gross, and it’s time to replace the shelf liner with chips. I took some pics while I was getting them out.

This is the keeper group, the rest are heading out on Saturday.

Myshire's got auctions going in their auction group.

Do the people that bid not check the website? I'm watching an auction for feather sexable eggs right now. On the website, the MOST you'll pay for those eggs is 60 cents an egg. The auction right now is up to paying 73 cents an egg. Isn't the idea to get a deal, not to pay more than you would if you just ordered them normally, lol?

I was hoping to maybe get some Sparkly eggs, since I haven't been able to find them for sale, for a good price, but if this is how these auctions go, nope.

Edit: I also just realized that the guy that won these bid, then bid again immediately against himself to raise the price another $2. They ended up going for $24, which is 73 cents an egg. Why???

SSC is now up, 60 eggs. You can by 50 on the website for 50 cents each, so these should not, if you're smart, go for more than $30. They went for $38 which is 63 cents an egg.

Sex linked eggs just went for $30 for 30 eggs, which is a dollar an egg. Available on the website for 60 cents an egg max.

A mix of Pansy and Sparkly went for $32 for 30 eggs, which is $1.06 an egg, available on the website at a max price of $1 an egg.

30 Pansy Fee eggs went for $34, which is $1.13, available for $1 each on website.

30 rosetta eggs, go for max price of 60 cents each on the website, one guy bid $36 right out of gate as the first bid, which is $1.20 an egg, which is DOUBLE the price of a very common color on the website.

120 mix eggs for $87. Possibly a good deal if you get mostly rare colors.

30 Falb Fee eggs for $34, which is $1.13. Available for $1 each on website.

30 GPC eggs, available for 60 cents each on the website. First bid $35 for no reason, aka $1.16 an egg.

30 Tibetan eggs, available for 60 cents each on the website. Sold for $32, which is $1.06 an egg.

30 Grau Fee, available for $1 each on website. Sold for $34, which is $1.13.

30 Scarlett hatching eggs. Sell for 60 cents each on website. Went for $35, $1.16 an egg.

Black Tie Affair 60 eggs for $40, can't compare prices because they aren't on the website at the moment.

the auction gets slightly out of hand sometimes especially with a bunch of newbies 🤣🤣🤣 zack makes sure that there’s a max which is similar to website price and won’t let the winner outbid himself 🤣🤣🤣
