➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

They are very hard birds to raise as they are very skittish and vulnerable to diseases. If you still want them and you are in the U.S., search for the Richardson Indian red junglefowl when they become available this fall/winter. Or, you may get the hatchery type junglefowl which are not true junglefowl but are much calmer/docile.
Don't know how hard they'll be to raise, but they are a bit skittish. But calm compared to quail :p

No. Thailand doesn't have many things you can easily get in the USA. DIY is a necessity here. The eggs came from a random seller on our Chinese based equivalent of Amazon.
I'm going to guess there isn't much you can do for those weak chicks then.

A good balanced diet goes a long way with the breeder birds when it comes to getting healthy chicks.

If you only lose a couple each batch I would say you're doing pretty good.

I read that you managed to hatch some from the jungle. If those chicks are pure and you manage to raise them to adult, I commend you for your skills. Share photos of your birds as they develop if you can since I am a red junglefowl enthusiast. 👍

Quick update, snow angel #1, Salt is looking great, it’s actually larger and more feathered than Pepper the tux runt, who’s feet I had to fix. #2, Sugar, is only 3 days old, so it’s too early to know for sure, but it eats and drinks with no issues, and seems ok so far.

OK, I'll post some updates in the Jungle Fowl thread and try to stay on hatching quail topic here. But yes, I caught 2 wild hens and a roo, and successfully hatched their eggs, currently have about a dozen chicks.

Off to a bad start with the little guys. Leg looks backwards.
Apparently high temps can cause leg issues but I have an independent thermometer and temps looked good if not a little low. Second hatched is running around ok
