➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Here are yesterday's 79 hatchlings with at least two still in the incubator today. In my noob opinion, I'm pleased with the health and vigor of the birds, from Southwest Gamebirds eggs. (Y'all can be the judge of the variety I received in their "hatchery choice" - I don't have a preference at this point, and was more interested in a quick shipping date.)

I'm also glad I ponied up for the Brinsea incubator.

I accidentally didn't close the cage correctly so the door flew open and out went two birds.
I was only able to catch one.
😭. Freak accident on my part.
I released the littles into genpop today. And I looked for eggs and found a dozen in the box hideaway. (2 were celadon :yesss: so I have at least 1 celadon layer). 10/12 looked to be developing so I labeled and replaced in same area of the box. Will see what happens with them in the next week(ish). I may need to plug my incubators back up just in case I need a back-up plan!

Set 50 Mexican Speckeled Bob eggs, yesterday, so today is Day 1. Also have 20 each, Mongolian and Abyssinian Blue Ring-necked pheasants hatching.

All 3 of my cabinet bators are full, so started up my Farm Innovators Pro 4250 bator with an Inkbird ITC- 306T heater controller. Holds temp perfectly....100°F and 44% Rh.

So excited!
Well I have one that has pipped but seems to have quit…and I didn’t get any Celadons :-( I got a total of 3 Pansy Fees out of 28 eggs. Such a bummer…such a difference from my locally hatched eggs. Shipping really does a number on them I guess. I’m giving the pipper till tomorrow but I think I’m done sadly with 3…they’re sure cute though!

Someone keeps cracking so of the labeled eggs in the nest so I’m probably going to pull the remainder tonight and put them in the bator to see what happens. There were a couple of new eggs in there yesterday during collection.
