๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐œ๐ก 2๐ค22 ~ Flo's Hatch-A-Long ~

She is not a bantam. She's a standard sized Silkie, the same size - if not bigger - as my OE.

She has food and water near her at all times, refilled every morning.

You started a thread? When are your eggs due? So eggciting!! :highfive:
Wowsers, sorry for assuming your silkies are the same size as ours (and by default observation around here locally) the smaller silkies.

So here is the 1st go-round for hatching:

And the 2nd go round:

I have a couple other tangential threads off of theseโ€ฆ that flopped.

I had candled the eggs yesterday, on the one week mark, and found that all the eggs (with exception to one, I believe) have been showing signs of development. Sadly, the photos probably do not show it as well as Iโ€™d like, but here goes:

I believe Egg 6 is the only one showing little to no signs of development.

Any thoughts on development/fertility?

Today, her poop was surprisingly small, but oh man did it reek.

Not very watery at all, which is good.

And of course, my Banty had to sneak into the broodyโ€™s area and lay an egg in one of the feed bags:lau.

I donโ€™t know what her obsession with the feed bags is.

I also donโ€™t know if I mentioned this already, but I figured put that sheโ€™s my younger, (approximately) 8 month old Silkie, and not my 2 year old Silkie.

I got nothing - more often than not, I can't see the inside of mine well, and rarely candle this early. So Imma plead ignorance. Also, I usually candle from the bottom, not the side. Unsure if that makes a difference?
Most of the eggs under the broody are medium and small bantam eggs.. the bottom of the egg is smaller than the head of the flashlight, so I find it much easier to see inside the egg when there is no light going around the egg, but rather directly into and through the egg.

I will likely candle in about a week, maybe a few days before.

ETA:
I think Egg 7 is the best example of a developing egg.. you can see the embryo and veins:

Photo quality plays a big roll in determining if eggs are developing, so I apologize for the poor quality.
