Teenage ganders(year olds) will calm a bit as they mature. They're new to all this and will try anything since he's in charge. Soon he'll cop on to being an adult and will ease down.

But a gander will always be a gander and will protect his female.

Once breeding season is over they chill down by a lot 👍

Don’t give her false hope serv:lol: Sam has about 4 months out of the year where he is ornery and if you let them hatch goslings it will go on longer than that. But it’s only Natural:lau

I've got an early starter to the season. Fortunately, the eggs will freeze instantly so no worries about gathering them up just yet.

Agree that most ganders chill with maturity, but certain breeds (like embden and chinese) tend to pretty ornery during breeding season, no matter how old they are.

Do you usually get eggs in January?

I do not normally get eggs in January, especially when it is a heavy snow year. Mid-February is pretty typical for my gals to start laying, and by early March, everyone is in full swing, except for my grey dewlaps, who tend to wait until April/May. Then, I usually get at least 1-2 girls who lay in June/July, so season tends to last up to 6 months here.

Any spiders on your eggs yet?

Sounds like the beginning of the year for 6 months you got a good supply of omelettes haha

Geese are so random 😅

So unfortunate news with my eggs! I candled them and 3 of them look infertile and couldn't look more clear 😯

Makes me wonder who is laying since the one who I think is laying, is breeding successfully?

Now I'm thinking it could be my young female who is only 8 months old, although mating with my other gander everyday she might be too young to produce fertile eggs?

The other thought, is that the goose who hasn't laid in 2 years might be laying them as she's the only one not breeding?

I don't know, but yesterday I got another egg and any egg I get will be put in the incubator! The 2 latest eggs might still give hope!

The infertile eggs will be scambled and given to the chickens 👍

Someone can still beat me to getting the first gosling of the year 😉
