Another fun & productive CT chicken gathering! NO processing pics!

Thanks to BYC I have met a group of friends I can truly say I love. Drumstick says" yes I
love them too". We are very fortunate people and chicken lovers.

I totally agree. Life goes up and down and it's so nice to know I've found real people I actually like.

I definitely want to learn as many ways as possible. This thursday I learn the throat slit and bleed method. Back bending may be a potential problem with four bad discs, but I'll do the best I can!

More than likely, there will be non-processors who will be more than happy to infant sit for you!

Assuming she's freshly fed, changed and well rested (napping in the car is a good thing), this should work out nicely. She tends to be a grinny baby and enjoys being passed around.

As for ages, I think we range from 6 on up. The youngest sitting in the bucket in this thread does not process, but he's starting to express interest in getting closer to watching. We have an 8year old who loves chickens and is trying to come to terms with processing.

Jasmine (almost 10) and Raffi (7) were trying to decide if they wanted to come or go to hang out at a bookstore. I'm encouraging the bookstore. Vegetarian kids at a processing event is... iffy.

Next time we do this at your place invite Mom again and get 2 of those mini kegs.
I have a feeling your Mom was holding back and could drop us to our knees with
her whit. I saw it in her eyes.

Make sure she brings baked beans again too.
I didn't even get gassy from those.

I think she was holding back cause the rest of the family was there. A few jokes were
told that were right up my alley. What an awesome group.

Well he loves you too.

He's a good kid.

Just remember...Double P bites back, and it'll hurt worse when I get braces

Oh, I am so holding myself back right now. I think you're right about Mom though---she would watch and maybe even scald if the others weren't around. and i've heard about her humor, glad she socialized...it's often kinda weird when you're mixing groups, people act like my chickens and get all cliquey, but I think we did ok.

Everyone was totally cool. I'm horrible with names but I had many good chats with
people. I blew off a family picnic on saturday because I didn't want to hear the same
old questions and the same old stories. Your party was much better.

We absolutely have a blast anytime we get together. Maybe it's a little easier for us since we are a smaller state? Who knows. It's worth it for sure. I definitely won't be able to make any events the weekend of 10/4-10/5. We have a school event at my son's new school that would not be fair to ask him to miss and the 5th is the annual Blessing of the Animals which I must, must, must bring my silkie roo George to. Those horns on his comb are making me nervous! They also want me to bring the quail. They're doing great by the way!
So bear with me, I'll check in from the library or my mom's house when I can until we get the computer back!
