Although it is a little cloudy today. I never thought it would stop, 6 days of rain is too much. Now when the ground dries just a bit I can pull all those weeds that popped up and finish mulching. Our cherry tree is in bloom finally, it will be so cool to pick cherries from a tree. The only fruit I am use to picking from a tree is citrus from growing up in FL. Now living here in TN I get other fruit to pick.
I am just dying to get going but we are still getting down to 31 at night and have had spurts of snow. Going to get an inch tonight I guess.
I have tomato plants under a grow light that are about 7 inches tall and pepper plants 4 inches. It will be until May 1st before I can get them outside as we can still get frost up until May 15.
I usually put them out the 1st with the water things around them and they do ok tho.
It's so muddy and I want to dig up a straberry patch to move it. ! I think ill wait a week.
I have apple tree's but no cherries as they don't do well here. I use to have 8 cherry trees in Oregon and we just loved them. My son would climb up into the tree and just sit up there eating !
My tomatoes have been in the ground for 3 weeks. I've been cleaning weeds out of the flower beds to get them ready to plant, although they are pretty much full! We are way past our last freeze down here, thankfully. Now it's time to plant a few squash plants, okra seeds, and grab some coleus!
I just started my seeds, FINALLY got them in that mail. Five weeks. I guess they are really bogged down with so many orders this year. I can't plant out until May either, about may 10th, but mine probably won't be ready untill then.
I am needing to get the tilling done, though, so I can plant out potatoes, and peas and stuff.
Oh, can we see pictures of your topsy turvy planters? I always thought you could make them yourself! I don't know that I could do it here, it gets sooo windy sometimes..... But I would love to try!
no, I was going to buy one, but saw a thread on the easy garden about how to make them...
Get a plastic bucket... cut a hole in the bottom.. Put your tomato plant sticking out the bottom... Put dirt in... Then they say to plant beans in the top because the beans give of nitrogen that tomatoes need....
You can hang it form your purch, or wherever you want!
I thought this sounded cool! It will keep my maters away from the bunnies, chipmunks, and mice anyway! ( well they are not bunnies, big ole jackrabbits) :}

Yes that will be my challenge.. we get nasty winds too, so I may screw the bucket to the side of the house... have a suspended garden on my house :}
