Anybody else crazy about planting flowers and gardens ???

A good way to keep busy is to get some chicks. We have 2 poults right now and that is helping me from going crazy from not being able to plant anything. I have 3 new flower beds to put in and a lot of rearanging to do. Splitting perennals to new beds and such. I was looking around the other day and have some daffodils, tulips, crocuses, irises,and lilies all starting to come up. The fresh dirt smells wonderful. I can't wait to dig in.

I didn't say it was a cure but it is keeping me busy enough not to go nuts from not being able to plant anything yet. It 's really sad that I walk all around yard each day and look for plants coming up.

thank you for your kind words ... that table is going to be so cool my husband has this great top he is welding together from an old frame and some other stuff he found in his stash that fits perfectly and looks beautiful (I think) ... best part after eating we can hose it down!

I have to be careful seating people however if we imbibe..I do not want folks toppling off my tier!

That's very cool to have a metal table top! Did you build the water fountain I saw in the link? And I'm jealous of that bird!! Beautiful colors.

Very nice to be able to rinse the whole table off! lol

I have 5 different kinds of tomato's,3 different peppers,broc and cauli,bok choy and melon under a four foot grow light. They are all about 2 inches right now.

Spent today and yesterday cleaning out flower beds. (about 2 days worth left to do).

Picked up 6 old storm windows from a guy on freecycle to use as greenhouse for my veggies in a few weeks. I put the windows on bales of straw and set over my plants.

Want to roto my garden but it is still way to wet.

Worked on my compost pile . Turning etc.

Need to fertilize and mulch my roses. Dig up strawberries as I want to put them in barrels and us the space for more veggies.

Mulch my rasberries.
And the list will grow IM sure.

IM going to build my own tomato cages as the store ones are to flimsy ! Any ideas ?

Thank goodness it is sunny today. I need to go photo how everything is doing. My spinach is huge, my carrots are coming along and I've gotten several tomatoes in the ground. Not everything is doing well... but I can tell what is doing AWESOME.

Gotta update my blog there is soooooooooooooooooo much happening!!!

I know the dirt we got we did by truckload for all the raised beds (the back of my truck is still full from picking up what we needed for the strawberry patch). We chose 100% compost to fill 1/2 the beds with, and then we did a 50/50 mixture which is a sandy top soil with compost mixed in. I've actually had to add some top soil (not 50%, more like 10%) to our strawberry beds.

We're adding one more triple decker raised bed by the pond today for bulbs and the extra strawberries. So I need to photo that too.

Also, one of the best thing... I ordered 6 fruit trees and there is a 90% chance they are going to be here today!!! HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Use concrete reinforcing wire to build tomato cages. They last forever. Mine are made of 6 ft high wire.

I'm so excited about gardening this year. Ever since I got my bakers creek catalog back in... january? I've been obsessed- designing and redesigning my beds- only to change it all when I plant! I've been having fun getting lots of things I dont need- but love- on the seed swap garden train.

We just had a hard freeze and luckily my broccoli looks okay- this is my first year growing it, I'm hoping to grow enough to freeze for the rest of the summer, then do a fall crop for winter/spring.

I have about 20 different varieties of tomatoes and peppers (each) I just couldn't pick so I'm trying almost all of them. Mostly heirlooms, I'm really into them, and I can save the seeds. I'm most excited about the Hillbilly tomato, an heirloom from the hills of Good ol' West by God.

I just got my strawberries, grapes, blueberries, and fruit trees planted. I wish I didn't have to wait so long for crops from them!!

I just found a nursery that has Winesap and Pink Lady apples!!!

I'm sooo happy and will be buying and planting some next week. They also have two kinds of cherry trees for a pretty reasonable price!

I've started some tilling and can't wait to get over this cold so I have the energy to finish up my plots.

Went out today and found a bit of lettuce growing! I had let my leftover lettuce last year go to seed but wasn't expecting to see that bit of green today! Very cool. Had no idea it would do that, but I guess it makes sense, duh...

Can't wait to really get in gear and start planting!
