Haha! Then the name is perfect! My Delaware happens to be not at all friendly. Her name is Draco. She sounds and acts like a dragon.
Aw, I’m sorry for your chickie loss <3I had that same experience with my leghorn! She was the chicken in my flock with the most personality and was an absolute sweetheart, the whole family was devastated when she died.
GotchaI think New Hampshires are a bit better than Rhode Island Reds but I think it also depends on the individual.
Thank you! Yeah it definitely seems that orpingtons are a must for what I want. The best birds for what you are talking about in my experience is buff Orpingtons and Easter eggers. Those were the ones that would jump into my lap when I sat out and watched them. I also had a leghorn that was extremely sweet and always jumped into my lap for treats but from what I’ve read that is not a norm for the breed. Goodluck with whatever chickens you decide to get!
I don’t mind the noise personally, but I’ll definitely keep the neighbors in mind lolNo problem!! And you definitely should!! Mine is very friendly and a very good layer too. Mine is quite loud though so that might be something to keep in mind if you have close neighbors or anything lol but she’s very pretty.

Your chickens are adorable! Especially the little naked necks! Thanks for your replyMy best birds have been Rhode Island Reds and Black sex links as well as Turkens!(Heres some pictures of my ladies) Some other docile breeds that don’t run up to me would be Barred Rocks Orpingtons Leghorns and Marans!
I love faverolles! I’ve never had/met one but from what I’ve read, they seem to be little darlings. Definitely on my future list of possibilitiesAmazingly, while not a true breed, my ISA Browns have been the most inquisitive and social with me, always around me while cleaning the coop or occasionally hopping up onto my chair when I am out with them, just to know what is casually going on. Salmon Faverolles are pretty friendly too, my roo is an absolute gentleman. While he doesn't hop into my lap, he also is always near me just being casual and friendly and easygoing.
Haha thank you!!mine might just be a loudmouth!! Idk if it’s common for her breed or not but just figured I’d mention it. But glad you don’t mind noise.
