Yeah ... I love him, he hates me, all of humanity, and all things UNchicken! Have a read of the blog and you'll get a picture on our 'complex' relationship! At least he's good at his job!

I have some hens that hate it when a rooster crows they all gang up on him if he crows they also don't like it when he tries to mate hens

The hens are doing better with him now. The only hen that is still resisting him is one of my Blue hens named Zhanne.

Question: My Aussie chick is feathering out slower than the EE's or the Rock. Supposed to be all pullets. Do they normally feather out more slowly than some other breeds? I know timing is breed specific.

I honestly couldn't tell you as compared to other breeds, but even a few days difference I their ages would have the older chicks showing more feathers. I also wonder if, the brownish feathers growing in are more noticeable on the yellow chicks than the black ones growing in on the black Aussie chick Your aussie should be fully feathered by about four weeks old. YMMV.
