Long time no see, BYC! I'm having an awful situation, one of my favorite hens I believe is terribly egg bound.
I have no experience in egg binding, the only hen that had it died without symptoms last year.
Its been so cold I try to keep the door shut, so I race in, feed/water, race out. Which is a bad thing to do, I know better. So I dont know how long she's been acting off.
The hen is almost exactly 1 year old this month. She is a super blue egg layer, thin body shape(but she isn't actually thin), lays a gorgeous bright blue egg.
Her symptoms are standing straight up, butt nearly dragging, but her neck is slightly arched. Her feathers are slightly ruffled, I assume from discomfort.
She makes a slight wheeze before straining to poop/lay the egg. I THINK I can see the egg, but she isn't the tamest hen so holding her still to REALLY look is hard.
I will attach pictures here in a few minutes, I wanted to post this thread first.
What do I do? I love her very much, I want to try my best to help her.

Ask all the questions you want, I will answer the best I can.

Give her a good soak in your sink with warm not hot water and Epsom salts added to the water.
Dry her with a towel and place her in a quiet place in a dog carrier covered with a blanket.
Moist heat can help pass the egg so you can try adding a heat lamp to the enclosure with a pan of warm water underneath the cage wire floor to provide more humidity just be careful she does not over heat.
If she does not pass the egg within 24 hours you might need to take her to the vet for an injection to stimulate her body to pass the egg.
Give her food and fresh water
Make sure the egg does not break or it will lead to and infection called egg peritonitis

Bring her inside, sit her in a bath tub and Submerge her lower body and vent in warm water with some Epsom salts for about 20 minutes, gently rubbing her abdomen.

Take her out and dry her off with a towel and rub some vegetable oil around her vent.
Then sit her in a warm dog crate inside your house to rest. Repeat the soak in Luke warm water every hour till she lays the egg.

Welp, I'm about to waste everyone's time. Sorry. :hmm
She likes company, but not attention or confinement. I was holding her down to look at her and she was screaming and flipping out like crazy. I put her in a cat kennel and she panicked even worse, so I carried her to a dog pen and let her loose, and upon her flying out, the egg shot out of her rear end like a bullet. The egg is HUGE and ROUND. Her eggs are normally small and extremely pointy. So I believe I mistook her hard and painful pushes as egg binding. She is walking normal, eating, and drinking. No wheezing sound or weird stance.

The egg though isn't normal. It is dull in color, and as I mentioned huge and round. Should I be concerned about her becoming egg bound next time she lays?
