I am glad I found this thread. I love wild birds. My shelves are full of bird books. I have taken many pictures of birds. My sister is a professional photographer who does bird photography as a hobby. We often go birdwatching together. Her pictures are awesome.
I live on 36 acres of mixed woodland and meadow. We have many birds. I also have a feeder attached to my kitchen window. I have quite a variety that come right to the window, even if I am standing on the other side of the glass. Goldfinch, cardinal, house finch, purple finch, chipping sparrow, white throated sparrow, white breasted and red breasted nuthatches, black capped chickadees, evening grosbeak, rose breasted grosbeak, oh and a flying squirrel

And those are just the ones that land in the feeder. Juncos feed below the feeder. Blue jays try to get in but are too big as are the grackles.
Last year a pair of American redstarts nested near one of the windows. My avatar is a picture of one of the fledglings. They are back this year but I have not found the nest yet. I know it is near the house because the female catches bugs on the porch. Here's a picture from last year.
