Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do. 
Our hens will be 25 weeks old tomorrow. One of our white rocks has been laying for about 3 weeks. Today she stayed in a nest box for 2 1/2 hours. I gave her a little goose to see if there were any eggs under her. There were 2. I then tried to prod her out with no success. I then just picked her up and removed her from the nesting box. She ran outside with the others. My question is could she be going broody at 25 weeks old??
