Bumble in Pekin or just muddy?

You were given good advice on how to treat it. Having antibiotics on hand don't do a thing for the problem. Having the required items to soak the foot, but not actually soaking the foot doesn't do a thing for it either. Just waiting to see what happens is not going to solve anything, and the foot will get worse. Please, start soaking the foot in warm epson salts water for at least 15 minutes a day, then apply neosporin WITHOUT pain relief heavily to the toe area. I'd do the neosporin 3 times a day.

Believe it or not getaclue, I have a method to my madness. I’m trying to figure out whether or not the injury is from stress and always running away or if it’s infected. Neosporin won’t do anything for it if it’s a sprain or normal callouses. So by removing the drake, she gets a break from running all day. Only time and rest would heal. Which I have been watching her. I did do some soaks a couple days ago, but by elimination I’m trying to figure out the cause of the limping. Which does indeed look like some sort of infection now. But I’m asking opinions one way or another. Also, neosporin is actually an antibiotic. So having oral antibiotics on hand does the exact same thing. It’s just a different dosage and delivery method.
The toe didn’t look to be the culprit the other day, but now I’m leaning more towards it. So I’m asking, neosporin and soaks should be sufficient?

Ok. . here is my opinion. The toe does look to me now like it has infection in it. It may not be the cause of her limp.
You may be right on that it could be a sprain from running. .
Either way the Epsom salt soak would be my first treatment plan of choice. . it will help give some relief if it is a sprain. . and will help pull out the infection.
The trouble is that bump may need to be lanced to get the infection all the way out due to the fact that infection in ducks is hard cheesy chunks and not liquid drainage. But . . DON'T do that yet based on my advice alone. . just throwing out things I have learned from reading other threads over time and what Ravyn has taught me.
I would go with the clear iodine over the antibiotic ointment as I think it would start drawing the infection out better.
You might want to give the oral antibiotic also to start healing it from the inside as well.
It almost looks as if she possibly could have jammed something up in there.

Actually I'm pretty sure that whole thing about not using the pain relief stuff has been debunked.
