When you first posted the pic it look like a scab under the nail once you soak maybe that can be picked off?

Iam beside myself miss Lydia Aflac has a tiny hole in his trachea hich has caused him to have this largest airsac that the vet said there is nothing to do and my Aflac is going to die I’m so sad my heart hurts I don’t want to live without him He’s my whole life and only you guys understand Is there anything I can do

Thanks Ravyn and Shaw! I have also been trying to figure out where the infection got in so that makes perfect sense. I have amoxicillin, cephelexin, and clindamycin capsules. I also think I have a injectable Tylan and LA 200 is it? From TSC. I’ll soak this evening and check back with pictures.

Ravyn do you think the toe might need to eventually be scraped out like when they have bumble? The reason I ask is because the hubs is only home certain days and would be more helpful in holding her down for me.

I'm trying to remember,, but I think LA 200 is oxytetracycline? I'm not sure which might be best to try, gotta ask @casportpony about that one... *if* the infection is still liquid, an oral or injected antibiotic could clear it up, but if it has gone hard then it has to be removed before it will heal... if it's still swelling though, I would go for an antibiotic to inhibit it getting worse and support heling while you work on getting the core out...

Whoops, I just reread your post where you said the core might need to be removed. It’s still early in the morning.......

Lol, all good... you can schedule when to remove it, this won't get better in a single day, it takes a bit to deal with...

Casportpony gave me an excellent article on antibiotics and their usages. I look it up and repost here. And I think you are right on LA200. But I couldn’t remember how to spell it so I didn’t try.

I’ll report back tonight after soak and treatments.

No they can’t so it ducks have so many airways running through there body the vet said even with a billion dollars I can’t save him because his trachea is tiny and with a mri or cat scan he still woukdnt find the hole

I am at a loss to tell you what to do for him. How is he? is he having a hard time breathing? is he eating good able to drink? I sure wish we could make him well, Like you said a miracle, I do believe in them. Or I should say the ONE who makes them happen.

Me too Mrs Lydia but they assured me that he was not in any pain at all and his lungs were clear but I do notice him holding upon of his feet a lot and hes turning one of his feet inward when he walks which is brand new he’s never done that.Hes itching more then usual so I’m trying to look for mites or lice and he still has this on going bacterial infection where his poop is black and runny and smells like death or it’s white and clear but I told the doc to call me because why wouldn’t he give him more antibiotics?He said he doesn’t want to stress him out because to hard to give him the medicine but not so are that I would rather him suffer right?!

Do you give Aflac probiotics?

Where is Aflac? is he in hospital or at home?

If he can't find the hole how does he know it's a tear in his Trachea?
