Bumble in Pekin or just muddy?

That toe is definitely bumble... epsom soaks and clear iodine to start, but that infection core may need to be removed... what kind of antibiotics do you have?

The pads are split and cracked, soak and apply iodine after each soak as well... no infection that I can see on those, but that toe absolutely is infected...

It has, yes... and also I recently used topical lidocaine on a drake without issues...

Absolutely... antibiotic ointment is good for helping to prevent infection and/or ward off reinfection in a clean wound... on an active infection it's like spitting into the wind...

Clear iodine soaks down into every little crack, helps to draw infection to a head, and actively attacks infection...

No problem... many pack the hole with ointment after a bumble core has been removed and it's cleared of all infection to speed up the healing process, but that's the only time I would recommend it's use...


Also, for @CayugaJana I would get a very soft bristle toothbrush and use it to clear all the gunk and debris from around the nail bed... since there isn't any scab or other obvious spot where the infection was introduced, it most likely was caused by something getting jammed in around the nail... cleaning that up might give a spot to work on, and at the least I would get some clear iodine down in around the nail...

Thanks Ravyn and Shaw! I have also been trying to figure out where the infection got in so that makes perfect sense. I have amoxicillin, cephelexin, and clindamycin capsules. I also think I have a injectable Tylan and LA 200 is it? From TSC. I’ll soak this evening and check back with pictures.

Ravyn do you think the toe might need to eventually be scraped out like when they have bumble? The reason I ask is because the hubs is only home certain days and would be more helpful in holding her down for me.

When you first posted the pic it look like a scab under the nail once you soak maybe that can be picked off?
