Aw it's breaking my heart too - animals really get to me.

The praying Mantis that has been on the side of the house (moving around) for 10 days died(?) yesterday. I don't know if it was from age (it was a big one) or that the weather got too cold. But I've been down all day about it. Maybe he wasn't catching any bugs and starved, or a million other things.

Glad it's not just me LOL

I think she's like one of the lowest in the pecking order too and she's a Buff Orpington and the runtiest/smallest one so she's just a really nice, sweet, gentle chicken and all she wanted was to hatch some babies :hit

And aww that's sad :(

We had a toad on our deck for like a month or two maybe more and he ate all the bugs on the deck and was very fat. Now idk where he went :hit i assume they hibernate?

And we've had 2 little teeny froggies in our garden pond for like a month plus now too and I look for them every day either before or after class. Last I checked I think they were still there but it's been a busy few days so I haven't checked. I'm going to be sad when the nights start getting too cold for them to stay.

It sounds stupid but I am really attached to the frogs and toad LOL

The toad was huge too and like I said, was on the deck every single night so he was almost like a pet LOL

I've got a huge cat-faced spider outside my kitchen window that I've been watching all year. It will be sad when she dies, but maybe one of the babies will stick around next year.

Grandkids thought it was cool that I had a pet spider!

That sounds really awesome! Do they choose one place to live and stay then?

I must admit I am terrified of spiders but that does sound cool!

Oh and I've been putting bird seed out and filling the feeders lately as well as putting BOSS and corn in the yard so I've attracted lots of critters and am enjoying watching them. Squirrels, chipmunks, and lots of birds. Need to put some more BOSS out though, mostly birds now.

But anyway, there is one chipmunk in particular that has been living in the garden. He is VERY cute. I'm kind of attached lol

Yes, they are orb-weavers and build a pretty big circular web and will stay in one spot if they are not disturbed and catch enough insects. They are fun to watch. Mine is a fairly bright yellow. :)

I've got 2 dogs, so all the small critters get chased off. Chipmunks are adorable though, but I wouldn't want them stealing my chicken food. LOL

We've had a few toads, which I love to watch, but I think the dogs have discouraged them from hanging out here as much as I'd like.

Hope your broody breaks!

Good Morning Dear Diva

They don't live much past a year, if that long.
