Scott sounds like you are speaking from experience . Tell us more
My Dear Diva,
I do know who popped that top without thinking about the running that was going on just a few Min's ago, and had a front row seat to the rodeo when his horse snorted and stomped her feet.

A surprising number of people wind up doing soil sampling when horses get jumpy - don't suppose that has anything to do with it, do you?

Yes indeed, several people were along for the ride and a very few of us were riding our horses.
I like that 'soil sampling' and one of them was water sampling,

LOL

Just stopping by for a cup to go. Have a great day everyone!
Have a good one Friday!

Baby deer were just chasing Popsicle Kitty. Now that is funny and the cat seems stressed!
LOL - too funny.
I once watched one of our "master hunter" cats stalking a lovely group of does that were grazing their way across the back of our property -- not quite sure what her plan was beyond stalking, maybe she'd watched a bit too much of "lions of the Serengeti" on Animal Planet??? This is the same cat who, one day, thought she'd take down a wild turkey hen she'd gotten the high ground sneak attack on -- unfortunately for her, the turkey was not agreeable to this plan. Poor cat was ready to let go LONG before the turkey was......

I do know that they can add a bit of excitement to a otherwise normal trail ride along the river. One small brain fart by a rider can spread to their horse and then to the horse ahead of them and then to other people. The next thing ya-know somebody is swimming and cussing in the chilly river, all over a slightly shook up can top popping abit too loud.

People can get so jumpy when a horse or two snorts and hops around abit.

Love the way you put things......

Maybe I will start thinking nice thoughts about my local Weather Witch.
I was somekinda upset at getting more then 3 inches between 3:00 this afternoon and 7:30 this evening.
Then I seen the Weather Channel report that just a few miles west of my 2 acres (and later north also)
They had about 7+ inches with more coming down for all of us.
I am done for the day, Supper is over and it's bedtime.
I will go out if an 'ohshit' sounds like it's happening, otherwise I will look in the morning light.
I hope that ya'll have a good night!

I've been seeing all those green watch boxes popping up on the radar all afternoon; looked like someone sure was getting an awful lot of rain. Stay safe, Scott.

My two acres are on top of a small sand hill, and the whole rather flat about neighborhood sets about 20 foot above a creek that has a another 20 foot drop to the Cape Fear river that is just a few hundred yards Southeast out my back door. We have low spots that hold a foot or two at most, so not to bad here. Going into town can be interesting

My three rain gauges are overflowing, 2 at 5 inches and one at 6 inches. After sunup I will look at some critter waterers and make a guess. Weather people are saying about 7-8 inches in this area

and still going to be raining for half of the day.
I do hope that the rest you guys can have a good nice Thursday.
I have already started a second strong pot, I'm gonna need it.

We could use some of that rain. Guess we will have to wait until it floats around again......
Morning! In the middle of doing the eye drop routine before going to get some hay. We are getting some of the big bales for the horses today. Don't know how many loads we will get through but we need about 60- 750lb bales and I am not sure how many will fit on my friend's trailer.
The coffee is mighty fine in this place but I need to go do another eye drop because the timer went off.
Have a great day!

I hope that you got a good tractor for the unloading, or do you have an overhead hoist and trolley in your barn?
Have a good hay day, I think that most big trailers will haul 20-30 if stacked two high.
Good luck!

Scott, I went to college at a little school in Fayetteville that had property that backed onto the Cape Fear. One of the favorite 'down time' activities was walking in the woods behind the campus, and I saw how much that river can come up after rain like this.

(reckon this chair will float well enough to use as a raft?! lol) Eventually, it will make its way here - people are sometimes surprised to see downtown Wilmington get flooded, but I figure the road closest to the river was named Water Street for a reason . . . .

Margie, happy hay hauling!

I wish I could grab and stash a winter's worth of hay, but all I have room for is about a month's worth. Gads, big horses eat a lot! When I had only the minis, the same amount of hay would feet them for 3 - 4 months, if the humidity didn't get to it and spoil it.
