If I were to zoom in more before I took that screen shot there's a whole line of red on the southern edge through Wisconsin.
I'd definitely trade that for 48 degrees, but you have to take the T-storm too.Sucks. Ha, we just a 90 degree heat wave today!![]()
I'd use Feathersite. I forgot about our good friend from Missouri!https://www.chickenheavenonearth.com/breeds-of-chickens-chicken-heaven-on-earth.html
some breeds in here we missed..
Can you send the link again? I want to look it over.I'm only allowing two people to edit. I don't want more people to edit because I don't want to risk the spreadsheet being messed up somehow.
I've seen a real pink one on Facebook, and have a picture, but don't wanna invade her privacy, but, it's possible. Also, for grey eggs. Try searching reinhardtminiranch then search poultry.Lol, thank you for sharing what you learned. Very interesting that the bloom starts colorless but picks up some color along the way. There are purple eggs and gray eggs too. They are amazing, but seem kind of like rare unicorns to me.
So, I searched the topic on BYC and apparently lots of breeds can lay pink eggs, even Barred Rocks. In some cases, maybe pink is in the eye of the beholder. Buuut, while light brown eggs with bloom might look pink and be white shelled inside, I found something interesting on page 7 of this thread. Check it out.
I actually PM'd somebody who sells pink and purple eggs.they're pretty.
from what I can tell.... mind you I knew next to nothing yesterday morning.
egg shell color is only, white or blue.
all brown color is a coating over the base shell color.
and the cuticle or bloom is what would give it a pink shade. How ever, the cuticle is not part of the shell, and it's thickness can vary. according to this: https://academic.oup.com/biolreprod/article/97/1/39/3920755
the cuticle doesn't have a color, but it can overlap the timing of when the brown color would be applied to the outside of the egg, making the cuticle take on a color.
what I'm unsure about, is I read someone's post on BYC that their egg from a previously blue egg layer, was now only pink on the outside and the inside, under the membrane.
I wonder if there's anyone with pink eggs around. I don't really have access to my sisters eggs right now. and they are only slightly pink sometimes. I should see her in about a week though I'll have chicks to take to her.
lol that was probably more info than you were expecting.
I’m lurking.I'm glad that there are only Canadians and Wisconsinites on this page currently, or the people from the South would be saying that ninety degrees would be terrific, well we all agree it is the worst weather that could come in the summer.
Ask em.I actually PM'd somebody who sells pink and purple eggs.
Want me to ask them, or do you want to PM them?
Yes you can. The fact that you are tolerating it. I was dying all night. I can't handle 81, but I can handle storming. I can't handle it when the internet is not working half the time.I’m lurking. It is currently a chilly 81 and storming so I can’t one-up you.. for now.
Believe it or not I actually love the cold. If it was up to me we’d live in the snow, but all our family is in Texas. I really don’t tolerate the heat well, I basically live inside for half the year.Ask em.

I love the cold too. Fortunately, my family all lives here. I like Wisconsin summer too though. Most of the time it's gorgeous, but when heat strikes, it strikes hard because we don't have proper AC. While you may stay inside, at least at my house, the inside is hotter than the outside, unless we run the AC. Even then it's only a little cooler than the outside temps unless it run a couple hours. For the most part though, you can just roll the windows down.Believe it or not I actually love the cold. If it was up to me we’d live in the snow, but all our family is in Texas.
