If it's alright with you guys, I'm going to start another spreadsheet.
This spreadsheet will be used for the genetics controlling physical characteristics such as comb type, leg color, eye color, earlobe color, number of toes, crested/muffed/bearded, silkied, vulture hocks, and hen feathering.
For now, I will be the only one working on this spreadsheet.
Yeah sure! :D

That's it... I'm going to have to become a geneticist. Then I will spend all my time decoding chicken egg shell color.
I am 99% sure now that the longer an egg sits the darker the inside shell becomes.
Don't know if this will help you or not...but I will do an experiment.
Will probably take a month to complete.
Starting today.

Hello!:frow I am soo super late, is everyone alive... It was pen moving morning so I had to move like over 120 chickens into different pens...catching them, caging them, transporting them, etc. Going out to buy wood and finish some more constraining pens :th. Looks like the morning chat was eggs? Well at least I am no authority on that....so I wasn't really slacking :lau

Fine by me :p

I am going to build pens and research more on color genetics and how they effect each other
I shared a BYC thread that has a lot of info on that....
first thing I clicked on. this first post is HUGE!!! it covers a lot of genetics of feather colors. and though I didn't read it it looks pretty clearly laid out!

the OP hasn't been on BYC for 2 years.

I'm still trying to figure out the whole egg shell color thing. Everyone seems to be referring to the eggs being brown inside, as tinting. I thought tinting was just a lighter shade of brown.

If it means that tinting is color going through the whole shell, then I might be able to find that kind of information, maybe.

hmm.... maybe I could make some egg examples for myself in my Art program, and see if I can make pictures for myself to try to explain the colors....
