Gotcha. Before I think the widget was recent posts that have been posted to, and the “recent posts” tab was all of them?
I'm not exactly sure how it was oriented or what constituted a new post. Funny how it's been less than a day and I can't remember! Ugh. What I do know is the recent posts did not bring up everything being posted on, like chat threads.

I can switch the pages now! Thanks! Here what I’m seeing for the original poster on one of my threads I started : it doesn’t say I’m the OP, and it doesn’t on any other posts I read.

So, uh, just throwing in my two cents here.
I have some light sensitivity issues and I keep my screen a little dimmer. If I look at very bright screens all day I tend to get inflamed veins in my eyes, need special eyedrops, etc. Otherwise my eyesight is OK, I don't need glasses, but this is very real for me.
This new website is VERY hard to look at with my light sensitive eyes. The thinner fonts and less contrast between font color and background color all across the design makes the updated website MUCH MUCH harder for me to look at. The buttons for messages and notifications all but disappear if I'm not actively staring right at them. The font choices for BBcode options and especially for the bulk text while I'm typing my posts are just flat out hard to look at. Skinnier is not better for people with sensitivities or vision problems in my experience. The lack of substantial color contrast is a serious issue for me. Reading my alerts is especially cluttered and unfriendly compared to before and I think it also has to do with the alert layout scheme being less cleanly subdivided and more information trying to be crammed in.

All around I wish the new design was more friendly to people with visual sensitivities, impairments or problems. And it isn't limited to just eyes, people with dyslexia, autism or other conditions may be effected similarly. This is probably especially important on BYC because of how many older users the site has who will now struggle with just SEEING things. It probably won't effect a LOT but it certainly makes it harder, physically, for me to spend time on this website if I have to squint at everything I'm typing to read it. Even right now my eyes are swimming just trying to read this very post as I make it.

A couple other notes. I really like the idea of positive-only reactions which is why I've enjoyed likes and ovations in the past. This current reaction scheme leaves a lot to be desired in fostering a positive environment. I understand it's mirroring Facebook. Is Facebooks culture the kind of culture we're leaning towards?

I'm sad that profile pictures are now round. It leaves less space for the actual image but requires the same image size. My PP looks just dumb now and I'll have to adjust it by shrinking it further to make it fit even though the width and height of the image file stays the same. :T But that's a bit more nitpicky and way easier to adjust to.
