@sunflour tagging is when someone uses your "name" with the @ symbol right in front of it.

@sunflour <<that is me tagging you.

When you use this symbol @ with their username.

For example: @sunflour

Would someone explain what tagging someone one means?

@sunflour should send you an alert that says something "like casportpony mentioned you"

I'm not sure what others use the tagging for but I would guess the same reason.

It's sometimes called a "user tag" or "user mention"

I wanted to respond to a reply someone made to one of my posts, so I went to Alerts to find it. But I only see two alerts from today. I can't find a way to display past alerts. Are they archived somewhere?

Did you see the SHOW ALL option when clicking on alerts? I'm mobile right now so I can't post a picture with instructions

Open your Alerts window and click on left bottom "show All" - it will show you everything you have been alerted on.
