So what you are saying is that you have a pinch hitter for your nose? Lucky you I guess with stinky chicken poo and all. Not my favorite aroma to be sure.
yep...my kids and husband sniff the meat in the fridge to see if it's gone over the edge :) on the bright side I get to miss out on dog farts and chicken poop.
Me too!! Thanks :) Do you know of anybody up my way that has a Polish pullet or 2 to sell?
Chiquita???
I'm concerned that she is only laying soft shelled eggs. What type of feed are you feeding?

I had an older hen that was laying soft shelled eggs. I put the flock on Flockraiser (I was mixing Flockraiser/Layer pellets before) and put them all on vitamins. The soft shelled eggs became shelled eggs again.

But if your girl is having crop issues, treat that first with ACV. (the organic stuff with the mother in it) And never put it in a metal waterer. Then when that clears up, you can deal with the soft eggs.

I feed King. I have to go look at the the lable. They were out of layer pellets so this is a flock raiser. What did you do for vitamins? I have Durvet electrolytes and vitamins for hot days. Should I try that on the regular?

Quote: Thank you. He looks like his father. But my rooster, Moose, is getting up there in age - he is almost 4 years old. So I wanted a son out of him while I have the chance.

Here is his father, Moose, at 6 months old:

And his son yesterday, at 5 months old. He still has a lot of filling in to do, but I think he'll turn out wonderfully.

and one of my lovely australorp Daisy, that i've decided to switch out for my avatar for a while:

The picture of your rooster is so cool looking! His coloring really adds to the picture.
