Molly said that the Jaerhorn eggs were a nice size and Henderson's chicken chart says that they are above average for size. I would guess that they lay eggs at least as big as my Australorps but not as big as my 76G Jumbo Marans eggs.

Is that a good guess Molly?

My girls have only been laying about six weeks. I think the eggs are nice sized for young hens. I just weighed one 2. oz they are still getting bigger.

I am surprised how well they are laying ... I have four hens and get 3 to 4 eggs everyday... They have all been fertile. That little rooster is doing a great job with his girls. He Is also Very polite...

I think they are great... They would really work well for someone who is Limited on space.

I finally found a dog toy I can stand for our Golden. While in Wal-Mart I saw some pigs and gave it a squeeze. It is more of a soft OINK rather than the squeeky squeel of most other toys. This dog also chewys out the noise makers regularly. So far she has only played with it and not destroyed it!
Such a sweet picture

My Baby Orpingtons We had Orpington, RIR, and Yokahama chickens in the past; all were purchased as pullets or young adults. This is our very first experience of having baby chicks, and what a wonderful experience it is.. I am enjoying every minute of it. These adorable, beautiful babies were bred and hatched by Deann, "just strutting farms". They will be our pets just like the others, also will be my models for some of my future paintings which I am looking forward to. Dear Deann, thank you very much for these lovely babies, and all your help and guidance. Lual

Ahhh Lual, they look great. You're an awesome chicken mama. Great pictures, Can't wait to see them on canvas.

My Bovans Brown won't roost! She's almost a year. I bought 5 from the same flock, but she's the only one that won't roost. She layed an egg on the coop floor today, too. I set her up there but she just gets down. Is this bad?

Is she a big girl? I would watch her, she is an hybrid--thy have problems with their egg laying parts sometimes--start too early with too big of eggs.

She will get the hang of the nest, but she will probably do better with roosting if you use a 2x4 with the wide part up.
