, especially that last one. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks Deb. We have been assuming the dark one is a pullet. Yay! Her comb has not grown that we can see. I've been feeding the same chick starter I used for my other girls. Do bantams require a different type of food than large fowl? Any special requirements?
I also had that happen with some of my Wyandotte chicks. I read that it happens when they do not get enough natural light. The feathers on mine ended up growing in normal as they molted.

Incredible shots!

Such pretty colored chicks. Congrats!

Wow, how cool. The duckling looked like he wanted to help his sibling hatch there for a moment.

I decided not to enter this time. Hopefully, I will get to go to see the show. I'd love to meet up with any of you that will be there.

Agree with all of the above. The wing flapping pics are so full of life and I love the patterns of the feathers. Chicks are cute period but those are truly special.

I thought that the one duckling was welcoming and encouraging the hatching one too

My Little Giant was up to 95.3 about a half hour ago. will check again soon. It had cooler spots and hotter spots so I heated up some custard cups filled with sea glass from Glas Beach in Fort Bragg and water in the microwave, drained and dried it all and put them in the cooler areas. Heat seems consistent now :-) I ran into the gal I borrowed it from at Safeway and she said that once she got it to the right temp it always held for her she hatched 17 out of 20 and 18 out of 20 the last two years she used it so

Thanks again to everyone here who has shared hatching secrets and stories. I will name chicks after you

Hatch results::

Of the 36 eggs I set. 20 made it to lockdown. and 13 hatched

I had 7 Gold Laced and 2 palomino Brahma eggs from my own birds. 2 Basque eggs also from my own birds. Then I had 12 BBS english orp eggs from Renies Peeps and also 10 BBS english orp eggs from Smith Hobby Farms (slongest, thasista).

Into lockdown went my 7 GL and 1 palomino brahma eggs, 5 Renies peeps BBS 5 SHF BBS and the 2 basque eggs.

The hatch finally ended today with all 7 of my GL brahmas 1 basque, 1 Renies peeps BBS and 4 SHF BBS hatching.

Renies Peeps eggs were packaged the best. She used those foam egg block inserts the eggs fit into. I really liked her method but she was the farthest distance (NH).
But Smith Hobby Farms had the best hatch rate, but all blues No blacks or splash

These are the Gold Laced Brahmas, They are shipping off to Florida Monday.

These are the orps. The blues are Smith Hobby Farms (yellow band) eggs and the Renies Peeps chick is the lone splash baby with the red bracelet on. Hope shes a girl!

This is my favorite chick. The biggest one!! And I have a strong feeling its a boy based on the pattern of its down coat. Ill let you guys now if im right or not...

Tomorrow im setting 36 of Trisha Blue Barnevelder eggs. I wasnt getting enough fertiles and i need to build my flock up. And I cant wait to take some pictures of those cute little chickes!!!
