There is also a group on Facebook tracking the progress and quarantine zones. I'll post the name of it in case anyone would like to know. The group is called End virulent Newcastle Disease.

Good thinking. I'm surprised there hasn't been more of an effort by the CDFA to get news out. I'm in NorCal, and I am just recently seeing some news coverage now.Yes, I am part of that group.
I personally haven't seen anything about it, so I wanted to make a more formal post.
If they visit another poultry owner that has VND, yes they can. They can step on dried feces and carry it on their shoes when they visit you.We have friends from CA who are in the middle of the Newcastle outbreak. They don't have poultry, but could they still bring the disease with them when they come to visit us?
A good practice is to have different shoes when interacting with livestock to prevent spreading disease.Ok.....I will be careful with having them interact with my birds.
Here are the other threads:Go to the CDFA site. BYCers have been discussing this for months. Search BYC. You will learn much.
