CALLING ALL BARN CAT OWNERS! 🐱TOUGH FLUFF!🐱

IMG_2314.jpg

Wow! That is so awesome! This is my cat... Oreo. She lives in our garage but spends almost all of her time outside. We get a "present" from her quite often and she once got up in our attic! (Above the garage and 'somehow' accessible for a cat even when the door is closed.) LOL, we have bloodstains on our concrete too! Climbing trees. Playing with our chicks. Coming back home with many, many, many ticks. Jumping and grabbing onto my shirt when I put a blanket in her bed because she thought it was an animal. Scampering with our goats. We have a drain pipe that toads live in sometimes and she will try and get her paw in there for so long trying to catch them. And, spending hours on my lap while I'm doing my homework!

I recently brought home two feral girls to join my farm. They're staying in the barn until they are situated. They absolutely hate me, but they're settling in and when I catch a glimpse of them, they're just the prettiest girls. Nova is a silver tabby with medium fur. Grace is a calico. Still hoping they warm up to me eventually, but for now, I'm just happy to give them a place to call home and get some pesky rodents out of my barn.

I used to have two outdoor cats, but now I just have one. A tuxedo named April, she is friendly but extremely skittish. She won't come inside much because it stresses her out too much. She's been a trouper, but I'm really hoping that she and the other girls learn to get along.

My cat is indoor/outdoor but came from barn cat stock. He’s 2 years old and just recently discovered the joys of hunting mice. I wish he’d get the chipmunks on our property too... he always lets them go 🤦‍♀️

He’s a fairly chill cat, always loves a good car ride. I like to bring him around, even brought him to tsc once, lol!

My head pullet thinks he’s one part of the flock, she’ll occassionally give him a small peck on the head to remind him that she’s the boss. The look of disgust on his face when that happens is hilarious.

The first time I read this i thought it said “she lives in our GARBAGE” 🤣

I don’t think you can call your cat an outside cat unless you’ve got bloodstains on the concrete or bodies to clean up! :sick 😂

to solve your tick problem, I have a glorious solution that IS SORCERY- Shadow wears the Seresto Tick collar, and I couldn’t even explain you how well it works! In 4 years Shadow has come home with absolutely 0 ticks attached to her. That’s crazy considering the fact that as humans, who aren’t out in the woods quite as often, we get 4-5 ticks every time we do go out there. She never has ANY! It works for fleas to, so if your like us and you have those stray cats around, it’s a blessing. I know it’s expensive but hear me out-it’s worth every penny! If your thinking about throwing the money away, here’s a link to it https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/seresto-flea-and-tick-collar-for-cats (trust me- if you can’t pay for it yourself, it might be a good thing to ask family for, for Christmas)

Ferals are difficult to tame, if your successful at all. However, my little baby Shadow, was feral for almost a full year of her life but thanks to the fact she was often fed by a neighbor, she was very friendly. You babies are going to be very loved! If you have the time (who doesn’t during the Pandemic lol) I recommend spending time out in the barn with them. Bring a bowl of food out, and set it next to you. Bring a book, or your phone and sit with them for half an hour or longer every day. After a while, they might associate you with a positive thing (food) and warm up to you.

I think It’s always the prettiest cats who hate you!

Aww he’s adorable! Is he a walk-on-a-leash cat or does he ride in your tsc cart? Lol, Shadow despises the car. When I first got her off the side of the road, I had to let her free in the car since we had no carrier and didn’t want to stay in my arms. She didn’t know what glass was, so she was rick-a-shaying (can’t spell for the life of me- sorry!) off the windows trying to get free! It was crazy! Shadow is a big fan of frogs to. When it was rainy she would hangout at the pond-and let me tell you the frogs were ABUNDANT! She came home with several a day- I hardly had to give her any of her real cat food she was so full!

I am using Selarid for my cats. It works well and they do too. I believe it helps to keep them HW negative but I am no vet. They seem to enjoy being parasite free though. I love my little beastly guys. Both of the cats are in the 14 year old range so not as useful as they once were.

Cool! I may try other products in the future, but Seresto works great for me right now. I’m sure the tick population will become immune one day 🤣 My baby is ten years younger than them so we’ve got a while before she’s retired

So true!
I've found time to play video games / read books again as I've made it apart of my daily responsibilities to bring a can of wet food out and sit there for about an hour or so. I try to keep it around the same time every day so we have more of a routine going, but they're still shocked to see me every time.
I eventually want to snag my favorite cat carrier back from them, but it's Grace's favorite place currently.
