Chickies, Chickies, Chickies!! Meet the new additions! (Pic heavy!)

Yeah, but the darn camera died! :barnie But it's charged up today, so I will try to get lots of pictures! :D I really need to get a decent picture of Marama--she's getting so leggy! And, of course, Rangi is always too busy climbing around my shoulders to get her picture taken.

Most of my Easter-egger boys have been fine with me, but then they mature faster than their female broodmates and start beating up on them, which leads me to separating them. :/ This year, I'm thinking if Hika Ma and Po get too rough with the little girls, I'll just have the big girls teach them manners.

Good idea. The cocks seem to calm down a bit if once they learn there place... ARG I can't get the image of FRIZZLE FEET out of my head!

Thought I would post this here. Someone asked how to pronounce some of these names, so here you go. :)

I am certainly no expert in Maori, but this is how I've been saying their names:
Rangi is supposed to be WRONG-ee, but I've somehow gotten myself into the habit of saying RAN-gee (with a hard g as in 'go' ).
Roha is row-HA
Ihi is EE-hee
Marama is pretty much how it looks--ma-RAH-ma
Tiwhiri, I just found out, is supposed to be tih-FEE-ree, but I have been pronouncing it tih-WEE-ree
Hika Ma is HEE-kah may
Huka Kairakau is a little complicated: who-KAH kah-EE-rah-kah-OO
And finally, Weheruatanga o te Po: way-HAY-roh-ah-TAH-ng-ah oh tey POH

Thanks for posting that, Pipd! It was helpful!

I love your creativeness with their names! No one can accuse you of being original! XD

An additional note--apparently the sound that 'wh' makes in Maori is regional, with some pronouncing it as an f, some as a w, and some as an h. So tih-WEE-ree apparently is also an acceptable pronunciation of Tiwhiri. :)

mm.... Yeah thanks, I'm glad you posted that. I had no Idea how to pronounce most of the chickies' names (especially Tiwhiri), and I pronounced Rangi RAN-gee.... so there, I've discovered I can't speak Maori

I have been pronouncing them all wrong...

I pronounced them like this:

Rang-EE
Tea-whir-E
I just pronounced Huka Hoo-ka
I got Roha and Marama right! :D
I was just pronouncing Po as PO...

Yeah, it looks like except Tiwhiri, you had them right. You just wrote them differently then I did. :)

And, well, I like Rangi's name as RAN-gee (and/or RANG-ee), so I'm just going to keep saying it like that.

Surprise! Hika Ma!
