Oh, wow...... just wow..... you GOTTA get some ducks! I won't try to convince you to get Cayugas just because that's what I have, but... they'd sure be pretty in the sunlight, and they wouldn't be big, glaring white targets for aerial predators. *humming sweetly to self*
I am so seriously envious of your new situation I can taste it.
Man now I see why you all in Cali. have so many wildfires. Gosh it dont look like that ground has seen rain in years. Dont let anyone throw a cigarette down, that field would go up in flames so fast....

By this time next week that whole field will be green irrigated pasture. It is being trenched and irrigation piped laid as we speak. I am so excited.

Nope, sorry, she's gonna get Silver Appleyards.
I read about them in Backyard Poultry and they are so pretty! I want some, but don't have anyplace for ducks.

Now I'm totally jealous! Irrigated pasture? Perfect. We don't have access to ditch water, so no pasture here.
FnkyFrm......yes we are bone dry here during the summer, so that's why we have the really bad fires here. The way you see the ground in the pics is normal for this area. (and we had a REALLY wet winter)
Oh WOW!!! How fun! I was wondering where you had been lately! You're not far from me at all, I'm in Pilot Hill, just outside of Auburn. You will absolutely *love* the real country!!!!
More pictures please!!!
