Cochin Thread!!!

I will be biting my nails until I hear from you! What a lovely Christmas present , too! A little early but still really nice! Babies are such fun!

I am sure what you have lost in pattern this year will be well worth it in the next year or two. That type is just so hard to achieve and hang on to with the girls. My boys can carry a lot of it and I am having a hard time getting the more rooish girls. I have it on a lot of the Mottled/MF crosses though and now will work earnestly to get the MFC project better.

I have always drooled over your MFC. Your hard work really shows and I know it will do more so in the future.

This is a testament to shipping hatching eggs. Given the fact that I got the right breeder, healthy parents, speedy shipping, & an excellent broody, I now have 4 new babies at my home. Six eggs were shipped, one had a blood ring & the other had a detached aircell, BUT the God's smiled on me. Thank you again, Amy for the opportunity to have some of your beautful birds.

I am so glad they hatched out well and your hen was very cooperative. I swear I see at least 2 roos but the other 2 I can't tell about. I am glad you got a good hatch rate and wish to goodness I could have sent many more. Maybe you have more pullets than what I see.

Congratulations on new babies and I hope they make your holidays more pleasant!

Amy,

If I get just "ONE" pullet, I will be happy. I agree, 2 of them look very much like roos. Right now, they are all snuggled safely under Mom...can you believe she is a Gold Sexlink (not normally broody) & the best Mom. She is so patient & lifts herself up off the chicks so they can re-position themselves. It's almost like she is sitting on her elbows. One thing that is nice is she is quite large so they have plenty of space. I'll send more pics in a few days.

No! A sex link? How awesome is that!!! I thought it was one of your Cochins or d'Uccles! Simply amazing!

I will always look forward to the photos and will love watching them mature. I have some growing up now but it is fascinating to me to know those eggs went across the country and developed and gave you some babies to enjoy. I am now anxious to see how they will mature and what genders you will have. Oh, the anticipation!

BTW I'm from UK so here they are called Pekin Bantams.
Here is Barry, I got him for free from someone else. He is about 22 wks Lavender Pekin, I have not seen much lavenders on this thread, Anyway what do you think?
aside the floppy coon and wet feet feathering

Thats because Lavender is not a recognized vaierty in Cochins here in the US. Many breeders are working to fix that, but it will not be refered to as Lavender, it will be called Self Blue.
