From what I can see I would say yes, however I'm going to guess that his type may be in question.

Thanks both. Neither of the two self blue have good cochin type. They are about 6 weeks old now and still in quarantine for another week. This week is the first week they are both without baby fuzz and have proper feathers. My plan is to breed them to my black cochins who are much typier, and get one more self blue pullet.

The girl is below(black beak) notice the partial feathering on the middle toe

And the one i am convinced is a boy (breeder who sold them to me told me this was a girl.), yellow beak. Almost complete lack of feathering on the middle toe.

In addition to the accurate info you've received, I would suggest that you not include your whites in the self-blue program you are starting. I don't know what you would get, but it would not be of any use in breeding self-blues and would only serve to muddle things.

I havent linked to it but I am always wary of any add that says 'show quality'. Like others have said, you take your chances with eggs. Maybe you cab drive ther? I dont recognize the name. However, I usually do not buy hatching eggs. I used to and usually spent too much money for poor results. But, I have been rewarded a few times with some very nice birds. It is a gamble. I bought some eggs just recently for the first time in over a year and a half two years and know the person has greaat birds. I will have to wait to see if my hatching techniques are up to par. :)

ps OK I linked to it. My computer is old. I see one small picture in the bottom left. It looks like a nice bird. I would be happier with 12 eggs instead of 8 but hey. The person has good feedback. Thats about all I can say.

ppss personally I would only buy eggs from someone that I have known or know from BYC that I am comfortable with. OK Im done now

I messaged them with some questions about their birds - how many blue/black mottled in their breeders, how they have done at shows (since they are "show quality") and if they will be at the Fowl Fest in October but have not heard back from them yet. I was thinking they might be from Star Bright Farms byc shelleyb1969 (http://www.starbrightfarm.net/) which is also in Brown City Michigan, but I haven't heard back from them either if they are the same as the ebay seller.

I sold all my younger hatchery birds to a nice family last night. They drove almost two hours to come get our mille fleur cochin a few weeks ago, and were very happy to drive that far again to pick up more of our birds which are very pretty, if not up to show quality. Now that I am just down to my older hatchery gals (the ones I named, am attached to and don't want to end up in soup) I am eager to find some mottled cochins I can start my show stock with. Autumn seems to be very short-lived in Michigan!
