Finally moved the chicks outside today and I really think you guys were right when you said I only have one or two girls. :hit I do still think the buff is a girl though?? But the EE and Lav I think are definite boys now. :hit

Also don’t worry about the first pic. They were literally in there like two seconds while I carried them outside and they were too scared to move at first even though they easily could have. I made them right after though haha

The big girls didn’t seem interested at all.

One of the cockerels was google eying the red buoy and almost crowed at it. :lau wish I could have gotten a better picture of his wild eyes haha

This. Sorry Kelsey.

Thanks Sour. It’s okay, I knew the risk when I hatched, but it just sucks cause I wanted to keep all the girls and now I have like none. :hit

It will be hard to integrate just one chick so I may just sell them all. Or maybe keep a cockerel and the pullet.

And just for curiosity's sake/so I can learn, what makes you guys say the buff is a boy? Isn’t it comb a little bit pale for 8 weeks old? It looks slightly paler in person. And I thought it’s tail looked different than the Lav Orp? But maybe it should not be pink at all at this age? And the neck feathers are looking a bit questionable/pointy perhaps??? I can totally see now that the Lav is a boy but am having a bit of trouble seeing it on the Buff. Maybe just disbelief and wishful thinking lol

The EE is definitely showing the classic patchy red everywhere and of course that cockerel stance in the 6th pic. :hit

Oh no, I'm sorry! What happened? The good news is that he was a boy, he got a longer life than he would have more other places, and you don't know if he would have grown up mean.

I think a hawk got him cause my mom saw one out there this morning. Found him dead in the back corner. Feel like an idiot for not making sure the pen was more secure. :hit the top is but the hawk got him on the ground I think. Or else was scavenging. But I think he got spooked and ran into the corner instead of the coop and then couldn’t get away cause it’s pretty tight. I feel so stupid and mean. I will be fully securing the rest when I get home but have temporarily fixed it for now.

And that’s true but he was the first one to hatch and friendly and I was thinking of keeping him. :hit

He would let me pick him up and settle into my lap for pets/cuddles but wasn’t overtly friendly or disrespectful or anything and still ran from me when I got near him but once I had him he seemed to like the attention. He was one of my favorites and the only one named. :hit
