So here's a question, how do you get your chickens back in the coop before evening? If i have to run out or just need to go in the house, it's like hearding cats! I've tried the bribing with treats method, I've tried calling them with treats... they come then bail when they see where they need to go. It makes in impossible to let them free range.

Something that works for me is using a branch that has alot of small branches connected I make a sweeping motion waving it back and forth on the ground almost like herding sheep not that I've done that but it works every time, when they see me coming with it they all get into a group and start walking toward the coop and I also make some stupid noise like shick, shick, shick.must have watched too much dog whisperer!

My Sheltie is becoming quite good at helping to get the odd escapee back into the run. He has so much natural instinct for it. Too bad I don't have more time, I'd break out the clicker and get him ship shape. But he has lots of fun the times he does get to help. All a quiver with excitement. Well, Flickr is down until 8 am, I'll have to add a pic of him some other time. He really does deserve it.
