Could we have a roo?

This is only the second time raising chicks and we picked up twenty from the local farm store. We’re hoping we might get one rooster from the batch since we will want to free range them once they are old enough. One of the barred rocks was clearly from a prior hatching than the rest and was the only one that size they had. Any chance it might be a handsome fella?

Very difficult to tell in that lighting. Is there any pinkish color to the comb? How is the barring? Are the black bars thicker or are the white bars thicker? A photo in natural light would help.

It's a boy. The Barred Rock boy's will have that white dot on it's head. It look's that you have more then one boy in that batch.

Both sexes have the spot. The spot means barring. It's hard to sex going off of the spot anymore due to nobody breeding for that sexable trait.
