Hey fellow Okie!
Yeah it is the butterscotch chips in the baking aisle! I just melt about a cup at a time in a glass bowl in the microwave (be careful to not overcook!) and stir in some noodles, about a handfull at a time, then drop them onto wax paper to cool. Probably similar to what you make.
Now...with the white almond bark, I do the peppermint bark (your little ones can do that!), coat my raspberry truffles with it, and make White Trash!
The white trash is super easy and addictive! You can basically throw in any extra candy/baking things in a bowl and cover it with the melted almond bark. I use the noodles, chex mix, M&M's, dried cranberries, coconut, pretzels, etc. It is delicious!!!
Oh, I also drizzle white almond bark over the pretzels (I don't dip them, just drizzle with a fork) and then top with sprinkles. Your kids could help with that, too.
I have to say that out of 4 kids, ranging from 7-19, making candy is their greatest Christmas memory.
It is really worth the hassle and mess when, years later, you read a story they wrote in school about how the candy is the thing they remember most about Christmas. Because there have been times when I didn't want to mess with it, and the kids insisted. I'm really glad I did. The little ones can always sprinkle or drop from spoons, and they will remember it.
If you would like some easy recipes to do with little ones, feel free to pm me!

Hey!!
Tell me more about this white trash!!
It sounds easy and easy is what I need!! I'll pm you
I didn't think about drizzling the almond bark onto the pretzels. I always dip them and and sadly even that is getting to be too much to deal with.
Wow jacie on the eggs and the afghans!!!!
