Crochet "Chat"

For those of you familiar with Tunisian crochet, I have only done a small piece practicing the knit stitch, but it seems to curl over on itself. Almost like there is too much bulk on the backside. Is there a better way or is this just something that needs serious blocking?

I'm definitely nI pro, but using a larger needle with lighter weight yarn worked better for me. I had the same problem and did some research, and that's what others had said.
 
Has anybody tried corner-to-corner (c2c) yet?? I'm a few days into my first project and I'm pretty happy with the results so far.

I'm thinking it will turn out to be about throw size and have some motive/design inside the green area. Haven't quite planned it that far yet.
