Crochet "Chat"

Still working on 12" blocks, which sometimes come out 13", LOL. I may try one of those elongated rectangle granny afghans, too. Here are some photos of the blocks I'm doing.

Also made a second hat for the sweet lady undergoing chemo and she loved them both, says they fit her perfectly.

Speckledhen, those are gorgeous! When I'm working with different yarns, I'll switch needle sizes to adjust for the yarn thickness. One size smaller for the thicker yarns usually will put it right on the money :)

I did try that on a couple. Most patterns seem to call for a 5 mm hook. The next size down that I have is a 4.25, but it's harder for me to use a small hook with my carpal tunnel symptoms that tend to pop up even with crochet. Usually I get those when I hand quilt.

One pattern said it was a 12" block but called for a 3.75 mm hook. I knew that no way that would work so I went up to a 4.25mm and the block was still only 10", but of course, it's easier to add a couple of rounds than to make something smaller. I guess I'll just keep making blocks until I get enough of one size to make one afghan and use the others with the smaller blocks to make a varied size sampler one.

Some patterns are easier to adjust than others. I agree with you about the very small needles. I'd rather stretch the smaller squares a bit ;)

Like the afghans! I started a rectangular lapghan myself using some of the discontinued Dream yarn (gosh, I wish they still made that) I got from Big Lots ages ago.

Wheelchair Lapghan finished. Approx 24" x 36".
