Crochet "Chat"

That's funny, pw. I find using tiny hooks very difficult due to my carpal tunnel. Even my 4.25 mm seems teensy. I guess it's what you start with. I've never tried crochet thread and I'm not sure I could use it with my issues. Seems like it would tangle badly.
Speckled it is hard on the wrists. I broke my left wrist years ago on the joint. It was a nasty break and took months to heal.....anyways since then I have always had problems with it. I am right handed thank goodness but that left wrist bothers when I use it a lot. I can only crochet for a couple hours at a time or quilt. Holding the ruler down bothers me. I do understand about painful wrists. I am having a hard time with the afghan because it's somewhat awkward and a little heavy. It's fun though.

For the tangles there is an answer. Mine is..I bought a music stand. I do no use the book holder part. Instead I use a bent coat hanger and shove it down in side the top. Next I find a fishing swivel. Next you can either bend another piece of coat hanger of buy a cat toy thing. (Ethical Pet Door-Able Bouncing Mouse with Catnip Cat Toy). You can search it on google. Ha ha that is what I am using to hold the thread. The music stand works good because I can fold it up and take it with me not to mention I can have it the height I want it. I do some strange inventions.

Ingenius idea. I have an antique can with a hole in the top for balls of thread, though I've never used it.

I saw some brand new small hooks at the flea market yesterday but even for a quarter each I didn't buy them. I have every size I think.

I once started a table cloth but it takes serious dedication and I lost interest and tossed it. There was and always is so much going on in my life. Too I have far to many interests and perhaps a little ADD.

Don't we all collect hooks. I have every size even the 16. I use it to pull threads out of my quilts if I see one after I have quilted it. I have a lot of interests as well. Way too many. Hmm I would have bought the hooks and sold them on ebay. Yeah a tablecloth is a time consuming project. I have only made one and sold it for 20.00 That was my first sale on ebay a long time ago. It took me months to make. I never did that again. I was new to ebay and did not understand how it worked.

I have a couple of older vintage thread holders one is like a wire bracelet with a piece of metal hanging from it. The other one is a basket like thing you wear on your wrist with a hole in the end.

You know I thought of that, but don't have an Ebay account to sell. Is it hard to set up?

My DD bought a Cowboy thing that you stick your head through for her sons Western themed party and then never used it. It's cardboard and just sits in the back room.

Ebay, etsy and amazon are all easy to set up. They all have good instructions. Amazon even has a survey site called mturk. You fill out surveys for money. Seems a little lame but I have made enough to pay for netflix. Amazon owns mturk. It's an well known company. I have had good luck with them.

Well then you won't mind my coming back to you for advice then?

Random question, but I have to know! Do any of you ball your yarn? My grandmother did and I usually do. Anyone I ever crocheted with told me it was a waste of time and didn't understand it. I always regret starting a project if I have not balled the yarn first...this project included!!

I do. I bought several one pound skeins of yarn for my afghan and when I pulled it out of the middle a big ole chunk came out. What a mess. It was awful. I am glad it happened at the very first pull of the yarn. My husband is the one who told me to put it in balls. Said his Mother used to do that. Makes sense. All of my skeins of yarn are in balls now. After he told me that I had remembered my Mother also put her in balls.
