Okie your lil boy is just soooo cute!!

Sorry I have not been on here in a few days. I feel like I have missed out on so much in a short time. A precious lil baby was born and I almost missed it!

Between work and canning I have not had time for much else.

Well I was messing around last night in the coop and noticed one of my hens limping.

I check her out and see a big cyst on her foot. I rush in and search on BYC what this could be and it turned out to be bumblefoot. Apparently she has gotten something in her foot at some time. So I read about how to cure it and think there is no way I'm going to be able to basically perform "surgery" on my hen, but I knew I had too. This just sound absolutely disqusting.

I went to Orscheln and got all the tools and medicines and stuff and I did it. IT WAS GROSS! Basically I had to remove the "ick" in her foot. She is in my garage doing fine now. I'm actually pretty proud of myself because it left untreated could have killed her. I told my husband that I really am a "chicken farmer" now.

Hi everyone. Congratulations on the new baby okie. I have news but not as fantastic as a new baby. I got my first egg this morning.

I don't know which one laid it but it's a little brown one with speckles on it. Yesterday got up to 109 so I'm surprised any of them laid. I'm so pleased and can't wait for the others to start.

The first egg is pretty spectacular!!

I literally beamed with happiness when I found my first egg. I don't know what it is, but the first egg is such a neat experience!

I gather 3 or 4 eggs a day from my neighbor whose animals I'm caring for while her and hubby are in Ireland, but they aren't the same as the little one that's mine.

I bought my first incubator yesterday and got my turner today. They didn't come in till today. I have collected 23 eggs in the past 2 days and got 6 bantam eggs from a friend. As soon as I get this thing figured out and the temp. set I will be setting them. I could wait another day to get more but I just can not wait one more day! I am so excited to hatch my own eggs!
