Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

So how do you "help" a duckling hatch?

If you do a search in the box at the top for "assisted hatch", there are some wonderful threads... with pics! It usually involves opening the shell, sometimes only a small hole for one that may be struggling to breathe better, or sometimes they need a lot more assistance and the entire fat end of the shell is removed (the air cell). More involved ones may even need the membrane peeled away in order for them to get completely out. Its an amazing thing to see...

last year I had to help one of my calls ducks hatch, it had pipped and broke a decent amount of the shell and then it just stopped an didn't really do anything for about 24 hours, so I had to basically peel all the shell away, and leave the part attached to its tummy and I let it break itself of from it, and it was fine :)

I also had to help some of my calls last year and had to peel the far end of the shell away as well as the membrane and I have them here :)

Milkshake's sibling had to be peeled out, too. Poor little guy couldn't move at all, or just didn't want to. But he's fluffing up and is getting the hang of walking around!

These babies really drive the point homw of just how weird Wobbles truly is. Wobbles would always do a little dance before pooping (he still does) and was a total klutz. These ones are like little ferraris, running around at top speed. scaling obstacles in a single jump and pooping like they don't even notice anything. XD
