BHep posted pictures of a very full bator! Cynthia12 guessed 105. Angelobutter digitally numbered the eggs and came up with 87!
We played the celebrity look alike game! Wisher1000 in post 7206, bantambury in post 7209,
TJChickens collected African Grey eggs!
Whoops wanted to candle as did sillycmoy. Chickensnbees candled duck eggs! Hurley found veins too! So did Cynthia12. SoManyHats is sad, saw 11 of 30 veining and clears. Chickenlisa candled the light ones and saw veining. Wvcountrygirl says 6 of 7 ducks are doing great!
Mr Mkk Farms checked in—He has been sick for a few days. I hope he is better soon!

The Cabinet incubator is working well for Sally Sunshine—lots of chicks are hatching!

Angelobutter and upghilljill are having Brinsea Spot check problems.
Brinsea spot check is working now for sally sunshine. She may have a fever though. Please watch the location of the probe!

ChooksChick is tempted by Emus but cannot have them! Set 99 chicken eggs! For the HAL.

Chiques chicks uses a couple of fairly accurate thermometers and does not sweat it! Eggs hatch fine too.
Chickenlisa asked about how many chicks can fit in an incubator at hatch. Remove them after 24 hours max and spritz with a clean mister bottle.
Cacklejoy candled and removed 50% as clears. There is now room in the bator to set more eggs!

Ocap asked about culling chicks that hatch after day 22. I said to cull based on condition. Chickencanoe said that a Broody could hatch healthy chicks very late.
Hockeydad6791 has a New Hampshire that looked like a boy…but then it laid an egg! Rudolph is very pretty! There is also a wild rabbit that is now a pet at his place!

Lol neither did I but I was tired of looking at it sitting in our driveway and having to walk around the thing. It was worth a lot more taken apart than it was intact. (Hubby is a mechanic, and I took a course on auto body repair) I've had a good teacher. Lol

It looks as though our Ameraucana hatch is finished and we only got 3 out 12. There were eggs that were moving but never pipped. I am getting frustrated. We need to get more hatched with the 40+ we are incubating now. We are about to set another dozen or so Rhodebar as well. Of course DH does not keep notes so I cannot ask anything about temps or air cells. Except for our very first hatch last year and the one I did a few weeks ago (in a still air), we are only getting one to three chicks out of 12 or 16 eggs. Is it because he needs to wait longer to take the hatched chicks out of the incubator? He said he waited 24 hours for the first two. This is the first time we hatched in our Hovabator. We incubated in the Farm Innovator. Both have circulated air and an egg turner. We placed the hatching eggs in a modified egg cartons with holes in the bottom of each egg holder. I planned to purchase the Brinsea Spot Check but I am concerned about reports of defective ones being delivered lately.
