Contact heaters make a big difference. The chicks do so much better with them.

Eggsalad has Broody Wars going on—competing for chicks and even breaking one out early. More are going broody too.

Margaret8 says Giuineas never nest in the coops so are predator meat too often. Incubating is necessary to save both chicks and Hens.

Ocap posted a hatch update—It was a long hatch with no candling—17 hatched out


BroosterSpringsteen said that 8 days was too early to remove eggs, Check for air cell development, veins and etc. but do not pull them yet. Happy Chooks agreed!

Whoops is impatient for the hatching to start!

SoManyHats tried to get hens to leave the broody alone by adding Golf Balls to one side—Broody decided to sit on the Golf Balls! The Post Office have the chicks that were delivered today to someone else! Update: The eggs are still missing. A replacement shipment is scheduled.

Jinks12333 asked about telling if a barred rock was a boy or girl at hatch. Small dot is usually a girl.

Lsmith has polish from Raven1, shipped in perfect shape, are in the incubator

HarritB asked for tips when candling Marans eggs. I said look for Darkness as opposed to glowing. Misbhaven said to look for orange glowing which indicates a lack of veins. Keep them in unless they stink!

Remember the surprise from Book’s Husband? It was Ducklings! They all feel better now about the eggs not hatching. The Singing incubator—inspired a picture of a Super Chicken breaking out of the shell. Mlmddh said that Super Chick should break out of the shell and then break the speakers.

JeniferL29 is having bator problems and is working with getting a fan added to a wafer incubator. There was a heat spike. Oxexpat recommended adding an STC 1000 Thermostat and bypassing the wafer thermostat.

Ozexpat told us to get a good incubator and learn how to use it. Then start getting expensive eggs. Pozees agreed and suggested local inexpensive eggs for practice

Angelobutter has 5\8 Goose eggs from her Mom’s place developing. Mom Got Geese from someone with a Terminal illness. Thank God they are at a good home!

For some reason Cornish Cross and the volume the poop was a topic today. One never knows what we will discuss on here.

From Book: Singing Incubator From Hell Update: Still movement in some of the eggs, though it is getting much harder to see. The humidity has been wicked high and being in GA it is already very high so the air cells have not grown much since the 7th! I don't think I will even add water to the thing at lock down at this point. Would you?
