Okay, it was white at first but turning yellow-brownish the longer it's exposed, I can see the beak and he is definitely chirping a lot

Chirping is good! Browning, not so good. Watch for it to get more dried out, or for him to struggle. If it does dry out, and starts sticking to feathers, you may need to remove a little, or moisten with some Vaseline/coconut oil/ointment of some sort. But wait as long as you possibly can, before intervening. Would be best if he comes out on his own, when he's fully ready.
