Delawares Humming Along/ Due Feb 25th / Hatch Complete

They look wonderful, Cyn!!!! Keep those pics coming! I'll keep my fingers crossed that the rest of them hatch before bedtime so you and DH can get some sleep. If that little noisy one will let you, that is!!!

They are really taking their time. A 2nd BR did hatch and a 3rd is zipping at the moment. That means out of 23 eggs, only 3 show no pips. Not too shabby, I think. I keep saying I had 22 for some reason, but there were 23 that made it into the hatch stage.

From the original Blue Orp eggs, I had a major fertility issue that I'm positive is due to the dense fluff of that bunch. I had not plucked/trimmed Skye after her molt, so she was extremely fluffy and none of her eggs were fertile and only two of the younger girls' eggs and Meg's that was put in accidentally. Since trimming, I'm seeing more bullseyes in the ones I crack open, but not enough to send to anyone unless they really want to take a chance on them

20 Dels...2 clear, 2 quitters...5 hatched, 8 pipped so far (shipped)
18 Orps...15 clear....1 hatched, 2 pipped
4 BRs....2 hatched, 2 pipped

That leaves only 3 Delaware eggs that are not visibly pipped from the 16 that were viable at Day 18..Im still holding out hope since we are in Day 21 for a couple more hours yet.

And the hatch continues, but sure hope it's over by bedtime. I'm bushed, even though I got more sleep than my DH did.

Another Delaware pipped. That means only two left to pip. The #6 and #7 Delawares and the #3 Barred Rock have also hatched. Wish the two Blue Orps would make the pips larger, but then, they are always the slowest ones to hatch for me.

EDITED TO ADD: Another Delaware, #8, has hatched, six pipped, still nada from the last two.
One of the Orpingtons just hatched as well. Looks black but could be dark blue.

I have 9 Delawares in the brooder and 5 pipped. Two are still not pipped, so they'll have to be candled if they dont pip by tonight.

All 4 BRs, 1 Blue Orp and my little Meg, Jr, are in the brooder, too. The other Blue Orp is pipped, but only a small pip.

So that means there are still eight eggs in the bator and only two of the Dels not pipped. I just will be happy when I can clean up the bator and put it away.
