Dog attack - lost turkeys & ducks - Update pg 8

Thanks - me too.
To top it off - we just had another dog show up - I don't know what the deal is.. We haven't seen this many dogs on our property in a long time. This dog was a beautiful husky, walked right up like he has been here before and started toward the back to my birds.

Hubby ran it off and is now off to search for the owner. I hate shooting someone's pet and feel like the owner should be notified first. You never know when it might have slipped out of a pen or a door. I give them a chance to put their dog up and after that it is fair game. I wouldn't want someone to just shoot my dog, I would want to know that it had been up to no good and have a chance to deal with it on my own. My dogs however are always supervised when they are outside.

Shoot the Husky! Thats what killed about twelve of my birds last year, there was a male and female. Lucky for them my daughter happen to be here and kept me from killing them, she took them to the pound instead. Well about a month latter I let my flock out to free range and begin mowing for a couple hours, when I was done it was off to check on the flock only to find them dead again...all the ones that had survived the first attack were now dead. The next morning at daylight I made sure to be staked out in the barn stall next to the chicken pen, well guess what comes trotting up looking for more chickens to kill, yep those same two huskys. Needless to say no one will ever get a pup out of this pair of beautiful blue eyed huskys again. I took them both and threw them out in the owners front yard along with eight dead chickens on top of them, they were not at home but I'm sure they got the message.

Moral of this story is I should have killed them the first time!!

We were very tempted to shoot it, it went up past my truck and straight to the spot were Denozo was attacked at and started smelling around - It had been evolved and was looking for more.

My husband found the owner of the husky - who is on a chain now. He threatened to take her to small claims court. We told her if we saw the dog again that it would be dead along with all my birds. She says that she will pay $400 for all the birds by paying $50 a week.

I know that this doesn't begin to even cover my costs and lost of my dear turkeys and ducks but it is definitely better than nothing. We let her know that we would not hesitate to shoot her dog or take her to court.

P.S tomorrow Its off to that same barn stall to kill my neighbors four black mutts that killed my prettiest BO the other day, that is if they dont consume the poison I have out for them tonight!! You bet I'm mad as........

So sorry ! ...... I think you should take her to court, if not, if you end up killing her dog, she will just get another dog within a week, and that one will be killing more of your birds
