What this looks like to me is a duckling has broken the membrane and some extra fluid has gotten between the inner and outer membranes. Usually it’s a smaller spot and we advise making a safe hole close to the “bruise” because there is usually a beak there. But in that case, I’m not sure where to make one!

Use your nose and smell in/around the incubator, checking for bad odors.

Oh, and like aart was saying about twins being risky, it’s much more common for them to survive a while, then they finally run out of room and nutrition to sustain two, so late deaths are more common.

I’m still rooting for you that some will make it!!

IT MOVED, HES ALIVE!!

If tomorrow nothing has happened still I’ll try a safety hole. 5 is only a single I believe so that should give him a better chance.

HUMIDITY ISSUE!!!

Okay so this thing is all over the place! It won’t even out!

First it’s too low (45) so I add a dish of water. Nothing. I turn on the humidifier, nothing. I turn the humidifier to max, still NOTHING. Then I add a sponge, and nooooow it starts to climb.

Yet it’s an hour later and it’s rocketed to 85!!! I panic of course and yank the sponge out. Wait and wait till it lowers and stabilized. Yet another hour later it’s shot back up to 85! Wtf?! I took the sponge out!! I take out a dish of water. And at first it drops. Yet another hour later and we’re back to 85!! What is going on!! I just took out EVERYTHING water-like and were STILL at 85!! I’m freaking out!!

I think I can help. Include a few pics of the brooder setup. Turn off the humidifier.

What is the temp?

I just took out the paper towels underneath the babies because I realized they had gotten soaked. Maybe that has something to do with the bruising as well? I had to have the bator open for a bit while doing so which means at the moment the temp is 90 but climbing. Humidity is at 67 right now and appears to be climbing a tiny bit still. Everything is out now so hopefully it’ll get back to 60. Will send pics in a bit!
